In response to the concerns of student leaders on campus, the Rev. Kevin Wildes, S.J., university president, has announced the new position of Chief Diversity Officer to promote inclusiveness as well as diversity of staff at Loyola.

Due to Wildes’ recent meeting with the leaders of the Black Student Union, the Living Our Vision Everyday Chapter of the National Association of Colored Women’s Clubs, and Brothers for Progress, a Chief Diversity Officer is being created to provide multicultural training, create programming and educate the campus on diversity and inclusion, among other things.

For now, Wildes is asking for nominations for an interim Chief Diversity Officer by Dec. 4 so that he can fill the position prior to the Christmas holidays. A task force on multiculturalism and inclusion will develop search for a permanent Chief Diversity Officer by May 30, 2016.
