University Senate discusses enrollment report and no confidence vote

The University Senate, which is composed of faculty members from each university program, met Thursday, Feb. 18 to discuss the progress of the financial equilibrium process, revisions to the faculty handbook and the vote of “no confidence” against the Rev. Kevin Wildes, S.J., university president, that was passed last month.

Roberta Kaskel, vice president of enrollment management, delivered an enrollment report in the meeting, where she announced that applications are presently tracking 15 percent ahead of this week last year. She also noted a projection of 680 first-year-in-college, first-time students attending next fall. This number will be locked in during the May Board of Trustees meeting.

The faculty senate went into executive session to discuss the vote of “no confidence,” closing off of the discussion to non-members of the Senate.
