Loyola’s Chucky Benach, biology freshman, was named Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for his stellar pitching against the No. 13 LSU-Shreveport Pilots.
He tallied a win and two saves in a relief role against the Pilots. In his second save of both the series and season, he struck out three batters and allowed one hit.
Benach has a 6.70 ERA and has posted a 4-4 record. With 43 innings of work and 36 strikeouts on the year, he has been a strength in the ‘Pack’s bullpen.
The 6-foot Miami native played his prep ball at Columbus High.
