The SGA Court of Review revoked Alpha Delta Gamma’s charter after the fraternity was found culpable on several charges, including violating the university alcohol policy and inappropriate behavior.
The charges stemmed from an incident in Biever Hall on Feb. 12, according to Jessie Patton, communications junior and chief justice for the Court of Review.
A male freshman came home drunk and told his RA he had been to an ADG party, Patton said.
Phi Kappa Psi has allegedly violated university policy as well. The fraternity was also placed on disciplinary probation, according to Cameron, until a hearing is held.
“It’s just standard operating procedure. Because allegations were made, until we can determine the validity, they have to stop functioning,” Cameron said.
Richard Spicer, president of Phi Kappa Psi and international business senior, wrote in an e-mail that the fraternity has not received any charges and does not have a hearing date scheduled.
“I cannot give you any information of the nature of the allegations because the university has yet to officially inform us of anything,” he wrote.
ADG was put on administrative suspension when the allegations surfaced, according to Chris Cameron, director of Student Activities. The hearing was held Monday.
Taylor Miller, president of ADG, represented ADG at the hearing, and Gregory Roskopf, assistant director of Student Activities, represented the university.
ADG pleaded culpable with mitigating circumstances to one charge, responsibilities of student organizations, according to court documents.
ADG pleaded not culpable to four charges: behavior inappropriate, university alcohol policy, statement of university expectations and risk management, according to court documents. The nine-member court found the fraternity culpable on all charges.
With its charter revoked, ADG is no longer recognized as a campus organization. The court’s sanctions allow ADG to re-apply for a charter after Dec. 31.
Last year, the SGA Court of Review placed both ADG and Beggars on probation after the two fraternities were involved in a physical altercation, according to the March 18 issue of The Maroon. That suspension was to be lifted on Dec. 31, 2005, according to The Maroon.
ADG could not be reached for comment as of press time.
