Loyola’s women’s basketball team is not wasting any time preparing for the 2011-2012 season.
The team finished the season with a record of 20-16, and an in-conference record of 6-6. Although practice for the girls has not started yet, the team is working hard to stay in shape and prepare themselves for the next season. They will even stay dedicated into the summer.
“To keep in shape, the coaches will give us a summer workout of weight lifting, different methods of conditioning and shooting as well,” said Keiva Council, sociology junior.
The girls already know what is expected of them when it comes to workouts for the next season.
“Conditioning will start when school starts up in the fall, and practice will begin two or three months into conditioning during pre-season,” Council said.
The women’s basketball team will only be losing one senior this year, but four new players will be added to the roster for next season. The girls will have to come together and welcome new players into the Wolfpack.
“Any time change happens to the team, adjustments are going to be made; however, we are still a very closely-knit team,” said management sophomore Adrienne Easley.
Council said she has high expectations for the coming season. “We have also been in leadership roles for the majority of our time playing for Loyola. With that, the other returning players are leaders within themselves, and they settle for nothing less than what the coaches and soon-to-be seniors expect either,” Council said.
The schedule and roster for next season have not yet been released.
