So sad that The Maroon (along with the administration, faculty, students and apparently the Society of Jesus) completely sidesteps the controversy involved with performing “The Vagina Monologues” at Loyola and instead prints what appears to be a press release from the Women’s Issues organization.
Perhaps The Maroon could have pointed out the play’s many references to lesbianism, casual sex, or even the monologue in which a 24-year-old woman gets a 16-year-old girl drunk, then seduces her. Yes, it all sounds so “empowering.” I’m sure St. Ignatius would shout “Ad Majorem Gloriam” after seeing the play.
Kudos to all, from the administration on down, for promoting this nonsense. When is Loyola finally going to stop calling itself Catholic?
