With the intramural flag football season coming to an end, teams such as Show Me Your TD’s are preparing for playoff victory.

Despite an early season 33-30 loss to Shark Week, Show Me Ya TD’s is gaining the confidence needed to make a deep run in this year’s intramural football playoffs.

 “If we are on our game, I do not believe that there is a team that can compete with us, as not many teams out there have the amount of athleticism and speed that our team possesses,” said management and marketing senior Slade Sanders.

 Sanders, an all-district quarterback during his junior and senior years of high school, is one of the team’s main weapons in its high-octane spread offense. Fellow receiver Michael Pfister, business sophomore, described Sanders as a player-coach who “put the team together.”

 The man in charge of getting Sanders and Pfister the ball is Lucas Wendt, quarterback and management and marketing senior.

“I feel my skill set fits (quarterback) because I can throw the ball a good distance, and I make smart decisions. I minimize mistakes while having all the faith in the world that my receivers will make the plays, and they always do,” Wendt said.

In their loss to Shark Week, Show Me Ya TD’s struggled to come together as a team and gave up numerous big plays defensively.

“All our speed – Phil (Cazayoux), Garrett (Lacour), Allen (Newman) – were not there,” Pfister said.

Sanders agreed.

“We didn’t play very well offensively or defensively that game and shot ourselves in the foot several times. That cost us big plays that ended up being the difference in the game,” Sanders said.

While some of the team members have extensive football backgrounds, numerous members did not play high school football. However, there is one thing that brings the team together: their love of competition.

“I am a competitor and love to compete day in and day out. I hate to lose, so I enjoy the competition on the field and the ability to help my team win anyway I can,” Sanders said.

While Sanders, Wendt and Pfister agree that the league is well run and well officiated, Pfister would like to make one change to the league in the future.

“I wish there were more games. There are only four games then the playoffs. Maybe two games a week instead,” Pfister said.
