Professor Catherine Wessinger of Loyola University has approached the cross- cultural and comparative study of millennialism. Through her research on the 1993 assaults on the Branch Davidians’ residence near Waco, Texas, and various other religious interpretations of doomsday, Wessinger has concluded that the Mayan prediction was misrepresented. Wessinger focuses on how this notion of impending doom would affect the ways people would act. She will present her research on April 18 at Baylor University.
