Brief: Business burglaries on the rise

During a 2nd district Comstat meeting on Feb. 27, the New Orleans Police Department stated that thefts have been one of their biggest problems over the past couple of weeks.

In fact, the majority of crimes reported were business burglaries, which are up 60 percent this week.

Auto thefts and burglaries have also been problematic around the Uptown area. There were a total of five auto burglaries and four exterior automobile thefts this week alone. NOPD has also noticed a growing trend in rim thefts throughout the city with GMC vehicles being the most targeted.
