The website 24/7 Wall St. reported in July that New Orleans is the fastest growing city in the U.S. Using recent U.S. Census Bureau and other government data the website determined that New Orleans had a growth rate of 4.9 percent from 2010 to 2011, making it the fastest growing city in the country with a population of 100,000 or more. The population as of July 2011 was 360,740, up from 343,829 in April of 2010. The city is still at 80 percent its pre-Katrina level. Three cities in Texas made the list, with Austin coming up second. Other cities on the list include Denver and Raleigh, N.C.
