The 26th annual New Orleans Film Festival will be giving film lovers the opportunity to watch the competition’s 173 submissions from independent filmmakers around the city on Oct. 14-22.

“Reversing the Mississippi,” will premiere on Monday, Oct. 19. The film chronicles the journey of filmmaker, Ian Midgley, who goes on a trip across America and meets two men, who have the same goals. Nat Turner is a teacher from New Orleans who transformed an abandoned grocery store to an education center. Our School at Blair Grocery is in need of better machinery but is unable to fund it. Marcin Jakubowski, a farmer from Missouri who works for Factor E Farms, had the goal to help people create a civilization with improved machine designs.

With the help of Midgely’s film, Turner and Jakubowski worked together to reshape the Lower Ninth Ward through the power of agriculture.
