Track field gain top five finishes in South Alabama Invitational

The track and field team had five top-five finishers at the Southern Alabama Invitational on Saturday, April 11.

For the men’s squad, freshman Evan Lowry turned in another record-breaking performance in the 400m hurdles, taking home first place and setting a new Loyola record with a time of 56.90. That marks the third time this season Lowry has established a new time to beat.

Mario Ramirez finished in fifth place in the 800m race with a time of 2:00.01, which is a personal best for the senior. Junior Peyton Bock ran the 1500m race in 4:33.83, good enough for fifth place, while sophomore Christian Lynch set a new personal best in the triple jump with a distance of 13.15.

The team will compete in the Southeastern Invitational on Friday, April 17.
