Juliano Mastroianni, international business sophomore, known around campus as “Africa,” was found dead in his Cabra Hall bedroom last night, the Rev. Kevin Wildes, S.J., university president, confirmed in a statement this morning.
“Our hearts go out to Juliano’s family, friends, and classmates, and we hold them in our hearts at this time. Your care, concern, and gentle respect are greatly appreciated,” Wildes said in the email.
Loyola University police and representatives from university counseling, Mission and Ministry, and public affairs gathered on the fourth floor of Cabra before 9:00 p.m. on April 14.
The Orleans Parish Coroner arrived around 9:15 p.m. and announced Mastroianni dead on the scene. A body was removed from the building at 9:50 p.m.
The university will offer its noon mass in Ignatius Chapel on April 15 in Mastroianni’s honor.
