Loyola’s Cross Country team ran in the Jacksonville State University Foothills Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 1. Seven runners from the Wolf Pack set career personal records in the competition.
The Wolfpack went head to head against programs from all levels of the collegiate divisions. The men’s team gained a score of 231, propelling them to eighth place out of 11 teams. The women’s team however did not record a team score.
Sophomore Anthony Rizzi finished as the top runner for the Wolfpack men as he set a career 8K personal record, finishing in 27:41.9, placing 75th out of a 161-runner field. Freshman Tristin Sanders was a standout for the women’s team as she set a career personal record in the 5K finishing in 20:36.5 while taking 84th place, according to Loyola Athletics.
The Wolf Pack will compete again this Friday, Oct. 7 at the Watson Ford Cross Country Invitational in Clinton, Mississippi.
