Student hosts voter registration on campus
October 11, 2022
Loyola students hosted a voting registration drive outside of the Danna Center Wednesday Oct. 5.
Midterm elections will be held on Nov. 8, and according to freshman history major Kincaid Leger, the best way to get involved is to vote.
Leger partnered with the organization Engaging New Voices and Voters to inform students about the importance of voting in the community. He stood outside the Danna Center encouraging students to register to vote with the Go Vote app.
“It’s important,” Leger said. “Something recent like the Dobbs decision is decided by politicians who appoint these officials.”
Leger was referring to the Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which ruled earlier this year that abortion is not protected under the U.S. Constitution.
The Go Vote app is the easiest way to register to vote for Louisiana residents so they can make an impact on local legislation, according to Leger.
