Even with the improved offensive output from freshman biology/pre-med Lindsay Diak, the Wolfpack fell to Thomas More College 3-1 in LaGrange, Ga. last Saturday.
Diak scored her second goal on the weekend off an assist from sophomore music/ philosophy sophomore Michaela Bono, which proved to be the only ‘Pack goal of the game.
The Wolfpack opened the weekend with a win against Wesleyan last Friday. Diak scored the only goal of the game. She took the ball unassisted up the field and drilled it pass the keeper to give Loyola a 1-0 lead. The ‘Pack held Wesleyan scoreless to gain the shutout.
In another close game, Loyola lost to Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Ala. in double overtime on Sept. 27. Diak scored an unassisted goal in the second half, but Huntingdon scored late to push the game to overtime.
The teams played to a scoreless first overtime, but Huntingdon wasted little time in the second overtime scoring in the opening minutes.
“Its close games like these that make me want to work harder. All of our games this season have been so close we just haven’t been able to finish the game when it counted,” said criminal justice freshman Amy Budahn.
The weekend games moved the ‘Pack’s record to 3-7-1 on the season. Loyola will take on Freed-Hardeman today in Jackson, Miss. at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Miss. on Monday.
