Former university president, Micheal F. Kennelly, died Jan. 3 in New Orleans at the age of 96. Kennelly was Loyola’s 13th president serving in the position from 1970-1974.
Loyola President Emeritus, the Rev. James C. Carter, S.J., Ph.D, praised his service to the Loyola community and said, “He was only here for four years, but helped us get ready for our capital campaign and moved easily throughout the community, creating and fostering relationships with many future board members and donors.”
Kennelly also served as a Jesuit priest for 66 years. Services were held Jan. 7 at the Holy Name of Jesus Church.
