On Monday, Oct. 1 at the weekly music industry forum the featured speaker was George Flanigen IV, the co- founder of Deaton-Flanigen Productions. Deaton- Flanigen Productions has been making music videos and the Monday night football intro video since 1989. Flanigen is nominated for a Country Music Award for best music video, and this year he donated 40 scholarships to Loyola students for a year-long membership in the “Grammy U” program, which was put together by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences as a way to work with college students who want to get into the music industry field.
There was a reception in the audio-recording studio located in the music and communications complex, where students got a chance to meet and begin networking with professionals in the music industry and the local chapter of the NARAS. Flanigen is the Chairman of the Board for the national NARAS organization.
