A majority of the state’s education board agreed Tuesday to new high school life sciences textbooks for public school students, rejecting complaints that the books don’t include enough challenges to evolution.
The 6-1 vote by a panel of the 11-member Board of Elementary and Secondary Education appears to set up approval by the full board Thursday of the books for biology and environmental science classes, the first time new books for the subject have been approved since 2002.
