Every now and then, New Orleanians have a desire to support their local businesses and it’s clear why many students flock to the “Favorite Bookstore”, a tiny bookstore with used and new books named Maple Street Book Shop. Maple Street Book Shop has been providing the city with books for over 45 years and has also served as the host to several prominent authors such as Loyola’s own Walker Percy, Anne Rice and Dave Eggers. The bookstore also has a daily 10 percent discount for faculty members and 10 percent discount for students every Tuesday. “We are honored to be named the best bookshop in New Orleans by Loyola University and we hope to continue to serve New Orleans for at least another 45 years,” said Donna Allen, the owner.
