Jazz Underground is a program at Loyola that facilitates a collaboration between award-winning saxophonist Donald Harrison and an ensemble of Loyola jazz students.
On Thursday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m. the collaborative group played at the Old U.S. Mint, located at 400 Esplanade Ave.
Harrison, the “King of Nouveau Swing,” is an internationally renowned modern jazz pioneer.
Harrison performed with Loyola jazz studies freshman Trevarri Huff-Boone on saxophone, music senior William Fancher on trumpet, jazz studies junior Kevin Nolan on guitar, jazz studies senior Sam Kuslan on piano, music composition senior Nicolas Lefebvre on bass and jazz studies freshman Trenton ONeal on drums.
The next Jazz Underground event, the Second Annual All Star Jam, will be held on Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Satchmo’s, on the bottom floor on the Danna Center.
