The Student Government Association had an unprecedented surplus after Monday’s appeals session. Consequently Congress approved the allocation of an additional $1,500 to the Richard Frank Grant, and an additional $1000 to the Father Carter Lecture Series. This means that there is more money for student research grants and more funding to bring high caliber speakers to Loyola.
Budget allocations for the university’s organizations are nearly complete. Many of the organizations that filed the budget packet correctly are satisfied with the results; however, 16 budget packets were thrown out for various reasons. A decision on what to do with the remaining surplus has been tabled until the next meeting, as has the final budget approval. This allows time for every congressional member to carefully consider the final budget before passing it.
* The 18 organizations that attended the appeals session are the only groups eligible for any further funding. They should contact their respective representatives for information before October 5.
