Loyola will host professor and author John McNeill, Ph.D., for a lecture on the links between ecology, disease and international politics in the greater Caribbean area entitled “Mosquito Empires: Ecology and War in the Greater Caribbean, 1640-1914.”
The lecture will be presented with an exhibition on yellow fever in the J. Edgar and Louise S. Monroe Library special collections room. A light lunch and viewing of the exhibition is scheduled from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m.
“Mosquito Empires: Ecology and War in the Greater Caribbean, 1640-1914” will begin at 12:45 p.m. in multimedia room 2 located on the first floor of the Monroe Library. Admission is free and open to the public.
