To the Editors:
It has been made known to the Loyola Community that Professor George Howard’s contract with Loyola has not been renewed for the upcoming school year. This is due to the fact that he was hired to teach for the music business program, which is being dropped from the Business College. However, Professor Howard teaches many more classes within the business school that do not deal with the music business industry.
I have had the opportunity to be a student of Professor Howard’s and he is one of the best professors I have ever had.
He has the ability to teach in a way that helps the students to want to learn, be engaged in his class and enjoy being there. He brings extremely helpful personal experiences to the classroom that help to further develop class discussions.
I feel that letting him go would do great damage to Loyola and especially the College of Business. Please be aware of how much students enjoy his presence.
Although I am a senior this year and I will not be around when he is gone, I have learned so much from him, and I would be devastated to hear that other students on Loyola’s campus will not have the chance to experience what he has to offer and the lessons he teaches students for everyday life.
