Social networking is helping spread the word about the cancellation of the music industry business track program.
On Nov. 29, music industry students were informed of the decision to cancel the program during the Music Industry Forum in Nunemaker Hall.
At the forum, students were given the option to ask questions about the cancellation.
“The dean of the music school (Donald Boomgaarden) was getting pounded with questions he didn’t feel comfortable answering,” said Frank Bombaci, music industry sophomore.
He also said that John Snyder, head of the music industry program, helped students resolve queries.
“Snyder was left to handle disgruntled students and at the end, he said, ‘If I fail, you’ll hear about it, but I don’t usually fail.’ I think that summed up hope for the program,” said Jacob Taylor, a former Loyola student.
“Everybody in the room applauded when he said that,” Taylor said.
Taylor also said that this assurance, of the decision Boomgaarden announced, gave students confidence and hope in the program. This led Taylor to create the photo.
The next day, Taylor placed the Snyder quote on a photo him. Bombaci posted the photo on Facebook.
“I thought it could be a great idea to put it on Facebook and tag everyone I know in the program,” Bombaci said.
Bombaci’s caption read, “Everyone should keep voicing your concerns for the programs, send e-mails and letters, keep the momentum going! Also tag everyone you know in the program!”
