To the editors:
I bench over 350 pounds to my chest. Squat over 400 with perfect form. And deadlift over 400 pounds with perfect form. I NEVER would have gotten to these maxes were it not for using machines in my workout to go along with my strength training. You cannot get big doing the same thing forever. The body responds best to changing things up and consistently challenging oneself in the gym. Machines and cable systems are but one variety that will allow for strength gains and muscle gains. The machines by themselves cannot create an athlete, but neither can the barbell.
