The end of the 2010-2011 school year closes a special chapter in performance senior Madeline Falcone’s life.
In Falcone’s three years of running on the track and cross-country team, she placed fourth in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics National Championship, ran a season best of 20:555.18 at the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Championship and was named GCAC Newcomer of the Year.
“Madeline has been consistent, and has been with me since year one. She has qualified for nationals twice and is a great runner,” said Andy Canegitta, cross country coach.
With the end of her college years coming soon, Falcone said she appreciates the support she has received from her teammates over the years.
“We had a lot of fun running together and they have been a great support,” Falcone said.
She explained her experience running on the team has been a great one. Her participation with the team has made her a better runner, and the skills she has developed in cross-country have carried over to other areas of her life she explained.
“Cross-country has made me more discipline and a better student,” Falcone said.
After graduation, Falcone plans to pursue a music performance career. She said she will continue to run even though she plans to pursue a career in music.
“My experience at Loyola has been a great one. I feel fortunate to have been able to be apart of the cross-country team and the music program,” Falcone said.
