Andrew Nelson, a mass communication professor and contributing writer for National Geographic Traveler Magazine, shared his expertise on how social media is changing where people travel at the World Travel Market 2012 in London on Nov. 6. Nelson, a Loyola University visiting professor, said that journalists need to understand the real-time dialogue that now exists between writers and their readers. Nelson stressed that it is not so much technology that is important in travel journalism, but rather a distinct voice.
