Top 9 reasons not to go to The Boot
As a freshman at Loyola, The Boot is pretty much all I hear about when it comes to going out on weekends and, considering the convenient location and the amount of socializing taking place there, that makes a lot of sense. So I asked some upperclassmen what they think of the bar and they began listing reasons not to stop in.

1. This is how The Boot advertises itself:
“The Boot. It is THE bar of Tulane and Loyola Universities. If you are eager for cheap drinks along with hot girls who are enjoying them, then this is the place for you.” (thebootneworleans.com)

2. It is a breeding ground for MIPs.

At The Boot, it doesn’t matter what you’re drinking. If you’re near a cup that even looks like it contains alcohol, you’re risking being slammed with a Minor in Possession — hefty fine and all.

3. It is not always safe.

People get in fights all of the time in and around The Boot. Don’t risk your personal safety to hang out in a crowded bar. Seriously, just in August (when no one was here) it wasn’t the best place to be around.

4. The bar food is a sad excuse for bar food.

Ever get those midnight snack cravings? Well, don’t get them at The Boot.

5. The drinks are expensive.

Last time I checked, so are books for college. And despite the price of these drinks…

6. You might feel like this the next morning.

7. Or this.

Because it is gross in there. I’m sure if you don’t touch anything, including the floor, you’ll be fine.

8. Weird things happen there.

9. YOU LIVE IN NEW ORLEANS.

Whether you’re new to the city or have lived here your entire life, you are living in one of the best cities in the world. Hop on a streetcar. It doesn’t matter which one. You’ll find something amazing to do, whether that is a picnic in City Park or live music on Frenchmen Street. Get away from campus and explore!
