The University Senate voted today to send their first proposed model for Loyola’s academic restructuring onward to Provost Marc Manganaro. Manganaro will take the Senate’s recommendation into consideration and consult with Kevin Wildes, S.J., university president, and they will then make a recommendation on restructuring to the university Board of Trustees.

The model, which 75 percent of the senate voted in favor of, includes five colleges and a library that would be organized differently than the current structure.

The Senate also voted on whether an amendment should be made to the recommendation requesting that the School of Mass Communication become a stand-alone entity, rather than being included into a newly formed college of music, media and the arts. This motion was opposed on the grounds that the suggested model can be further amended by a committee after its initial approval.
