In true Jesuit tradition, Loyola Week is set to begin with a special Opening Mass.
Ken Weber, university minister for liturgy and music, is in charge of the Mass and talked about its uniqueness.
“The festive character of the Mass is expressed through the second line-style music in the procession, Jesuit-themed banners, and fire to symbolize the living energy of the Loyola community. The homily, or sermon, will focus on how we live our Jesuit, Catholic identity at Loyola,” Weber said.
Weber added that the students come together to pray at the Mass.
“This Mass is the most explicitly spiritual event of Loyola Week, and is therefore a fitting way to kick off the week,” Weber said.
The Loyola Week Opening Mass will take place on Nov. 1 at 8:45 p.m. in the Marquette horseshoe.
