The 2016 NBA All-Star weekend in Toronto was capped off by the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge where Team USA defeated Team World.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Zach Lavine was named MVP for his 30 point, seven rebound, four assist performance.
All-Star Saturday night kicked off with the skills challenge. The Timberwolves’ Karl Anthony-Towns upset Boston Celtic’s guard Isaiah Thomas in the final.
Golden State Warriors’ guard Klay Thompson beat his teammate and defending champion Stephen Curry to win the three point shootout; meanwhile, defending dunk contest champion Zach Lavine edged out the Magic’s Aaron Gordon in the final round to secure his second dunk contest victory in two years.
The 2016 All-Star game was won by the Western Conference All-Stars as they defeated the East by a score of 196-173. Russell Westbrook was named MVP for the second straight time.
This was the first All-Star game held outside of the U.S. and also became the highest scoring in its 65-year history.
