The Fools of April music festival, organized to showcase Loyola’s diverse musicians, is back on April 3 in the Peace Quad.

The free one-day event brings together current Loyola students and alumni. The lineup for this year includes Naughty Professor, Grotto Girl, HOUND, Froyo-Ma, Elysian Feel, Alfred Banks, The Shady Bunch, Josh Goins, Stoop Kids and Caddywhompus.

At the helm of the eclectic production are music industry studies sophomores Roger Siver and Amanda Seal.

According to Siver, their aim with the festival is to celebrate and show- case Loyola’s talented student body.

“A music festival is the perfect way to do that. As a labor of love for all those involved it will be a day of celebrating the talent that makes Loyola great. Truly a festival for students by students,” Seal said.

Jack Long, band frontman and guitarist, said that he is thrilled to have his psychedelic punk band HOUND be a part of the lineup.

“To have our aggressive sound included is exciting. It feels great to be recognized by the Loyola community,” Long said.

With over a hundred confirmed attendees on Facebook and counting, the festival is expected to bring in an impressive crowd to pack the Peace Quad.

Claire McLaughlin, music industry studies sophomore, said she is looking forward to seeing all the artists perform live.

“There’s no one band I’m more excited to see than the others. I think what I find exciting is the fact that this is such a community-based event, and that it was created by Loyola students, for Loyola students,” McLaughlin said.

She said the fact that the festival doubles as a platform for artists to display their work is incredible, and it definitely adds a really interesting level to the festival-goers’ experience.

While the musical acts, which will take place on Sunday, April 3 beginning at 11:30 a.m., will be the main focus of the event, there will be a range of food vendors, local artists and activities to engage the attendees. The festival will continue throughout the day on two alternating stages until the last act takes the stage at 7:30 p.m.
