The Wolf Pack took control from tip-off in their 90-52 victory over the Brewton-Parker Barons.
Senior forward, Johnny Griffin Jr., put up yet another double-double tonight, recording 13 rebounds and 18 points. Junior point guard, Nick Parker was able to finish strong around the basket and put up 20 points for his team.
“It’s my job to lead the team with energy, and I bring that energy on offense and defense. I’m constantly told to be aggressive because I’m expected to go hard to the boards and finish in the paint,” Griffin Jr said.
While four of the five starters, Griffin Jr., Nate Pierre, Parker and Ethan Turner, each put up double digit points tonight, the Wolf Pack was able to get a lot of help from their bench.
Trey LaForge, a transfer from Louisiana State University, put up seven points and four rebounds in 11 minutes of play off the bench.
“I feel like my role right now is to help the team in any way that I can. I feel like I can help out by playing multiple positions and filling in any gaps that we have,” LaForge said.
Loyola never took their foot off the gas pedal tonight, causing the Barons to be unable to lead for the entire 40 minutes.
The Wolf Pack now sit at a 13-7 overall record and 6-5 in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The team will play again this Saturday against the College of Coastal Georgia at 4 p.m. at First NBC court.
