Dear Editor,
On Nov. 20, an editorial appeared in the Maroon regarding the impact the recent theft at the Loyola Bookstore is having on students. As the new store manager here, please know that your concerns are of the utmost importance to me.
The recent theft has required that we implement additional security measures in order to deter future incidences. One of these measures is expansion of our clerk service program. Clerk service is common in most college bookstores today. In terms of customer service, most students prefer the one to one assistance clerk service provides. We have extended the period of clerk service during slower periods. Be assured that full access to the text department will be available in January.
We are gearing up for back to school now and will have our full support team on board to assist you and deliver faster service. Additionally, online ordering has been available at the Loyola University Bookstore for more than five years. You can order your textbooks through our bookstore Web site 24 hours a day, seven days a week at http://www.loyolabookstore.com, which shows required and recommended course material along with pricing for all faculty submitted courses. You can select the materials you need, prepay and then select in-store pick up or have your materials shipped.
Lastly, students are always concerned regarding textbook prices and although publishers determine pricing, our used book and buyback programs offer you the best value, savings up to 50 percent versus buying a new book. By working with faculty, we will be able to pay you the highest amount possible during buyback and have plenty of used textbooks available for the next term.
The Loyola Bookstore is committed to providing you the best prices and service, the most used textbooks, the highest buyback prices and accurate faculty requested course materials.
Sincerely,
Ivon Fascio
Loyola Bookstore manager
