Loyola New Orleans athletics wrapped up the fall portion of competition with strong performances across multiple sports, including noteworthy runs from both basketball programs as the university heads into winter competition.
From the men’s basketball season opener in late October through Nov. 25, the team compiled a 7–2 record, including victories in two dramatic multi-overtime contests. The most memorable came on Nov. 4, a 110–102 four-overtime win over Xavier University, followed by a 96–95 double-overtime victory at Southern University at New Orleans on Nov. 10.
Loyola showed consistency in scoring output across the semester, averaging approximately 85 points per game while holding opponents to roughly 77. The Wolf Pack also posted a solid rebounding margin, winning the glass by about seven boards per game.
Their two defeats — one on the road at Dillard (Oct. 28) and another against nationally ranked LSU Alexandria (Nov. 13) — came against strong competition and served as early tests of depth and stamina.
The women’s basketball team closed the semester with a 5–3 non-conference record, including a dominant 88–47 performance vs LSU Alexandria and successive home wins against Louisiana State University Shreveport and Philander Smith.
Their season began with a 64–69 loss to Langston on Oct. 24, followed by a high-scoring 94–90 win at Haskell Indian Nations on Oct. 25. Loyola suffered a setback in an Oct. 29 exhibition against Tulane, but steadied momentum in November before closing the pre-break schedule with a 70–61 win over Dillard on Nov. 25.
The Loyola Wolf Pack volleyball team delivered one of its most consistent semesters in recent years, carrying strong momentum from August through late November. The squad recorded multiple conference wins, highlighted by several straight-set victories that demonstrated the team’s growth and improved court communication. Defensive efficiency increased throughout the season, with Loyola sharpening their serve-receive patterns and reducing opponent scoring runs.
The team also advanced through key regular-season matchups that shaped playoff positioning and gave younger players competitive exposure. Several individual players reached personal milestones, including career-high dig totals, improved hitting percentages, and standout serving streaks that shifted match momentum.
By the close of Nov, 25, the Wolf Pack had established itself a unified, resilient roster with a balanced lineup capable of competing deep into postseason play.
The Loyola men’s and women’s cross country teams competed regularly throughout the fall semester, showing measurable improvements in average finishing times at multiple meets. Several runners achieved personal bests during the season, contributing to improved team scoring placement. Loyola maintained a consistent pack-running strategy, with runners finishing in close proximity to one another, which helped strengthen overall scoring outcomes.
Throughout the semester, Loyola participated in conference and non-conference meets with consistent attendance and stable roster participation. The athletes met scheduled performance benchmarks during the season and demonstrated reliable competition readiness across the semester’s events.
Across all programs, Loyola athletics demonstrated depth, commitment, and measurable growth throughout the fall semester. The men’s basketball team emerged as an early standout with strong offensive statistics and multiple clutch wins, while the women’s squad showed promising scoring potential and steady defensive improvement. Other programs, including volleyball and cross-country, continued to build a long-term trajectory during the fall months.
With conference play approaching and roster depth improving, the Wolf Pack position themselves for an eventful and competitive winter stretch.
