Food, music, beer and hanging out in the quad. It sounds like a typical TGIF doesn’t it?
But this wasn’t just some random TGIF, this was Loyolapalooza, and it sent Greek Week out in style.
Held in the Peace Quad, Loyolapalooza featured such notable bands as Soul Mod, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, The Benjy Davis Project and Loyola’s own Brad Benoit.
The sunny, humid day lent itself to an ultra-relaxed atmosphere.
Groups of students spread themselves out in front of the music stages and on the benches, but the real action happened around the statue of St. Ignatius in front of the library.
This is where the crawfish lines were located, and it stayed a hotspot all throughout the afternoon.
Members of UPB set up a volleyball net and even a kiddie pool, so there were some options for those who didn’t want to sit around and watch the bands or gorge themselves on crawfish.
Last weekend, a national music business conference called “Music Biz on the Bayou” was held at Loyola.
Many attendees jumped at the opportunity to listen to a mix of New Orleans music, from funk to pop at Loyolapalooza.
Whether they were walking around the Peace Quad just taking in the atmosphere or fighting their first battle with eating crawfish, the conference participants enjoyed themselves.
The exceptional weather, prime location and outstanding musical acts drew a substantial crowd that wanted to enjoy Loyolapalooza. And they did.
