They have the money, now it’s time to decide how to spend it and if it is enough.
Though the Student Government Association did not finalize allocations as of press time, the organizations of Loyola know more or less the amount of money will be awarded to them.
Some of the allocations requests, such as those given to the Quidditch Club and the International Student Association, were granted in full.
“We’re very grateful that we received our allocations in full. I believe we got as much as we needed,” said PK, International Student Association president and business management junior.
“Compared to past budgets, the budget we got allocated for this semester was similar if not higher.” PK said the money will go toward paying for ISA events like the country fair.
Other clubs, like the Black Student Union, got less than half of the money they requested.
“I think the allocations process was extremely fair, while I’m a little disappointed we didn’t get all of the money we allocated for, I understand the reasons behind the cuts,” said Alexi Gaddis, BSU president and psychology junior. “Money has been a little bit of a struggle for us this year.”
Gaddis said the money they received will go toward paying for transportation to their volunteer site at Banneker Elementary School and their annual gala.
Even though BSU did not receive the money they requested, they still feel that they will be able to manage.
“We definitely will have to be resourceful in ensuring that our plans are carried out. The money that we were allocated will definitely help,” said Gaddis.
