BOWIE, Md. (AP) — President Barack Obama is telling Democratic voters in Maryland that he needs them to be as “fired up” on Nov. 2 as they were when they elected him in 2008.
Campaigning with Gov. Martin O’Malley at an outdoor rally at Bowie State University, Obama said his 2008 victory wasn’t the end of the road but merely the beginning. He said his campaign alone didn’t deliver the change the country wanted, but created an opportunity for change to happen.
Obama also was campaigning Thursday in Chicago with Illinois state treasurer and longtime friend Alexi Giannoulias (jeh-NOO’-lee-ehs), who is in a tight race for Obama’s former Senate seat.
Obama is campaigning hard in these final weeks to try to minimize Democratic losses in Congress.
