The Loyola community and members of Zeta Psi Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority mourn the death of Kathryn “Greer” Feagin. A family member found Feagin dead in her west Houston apartment. She had suffered blunt force trauma to her body, according to a Houston Police Department report.

After graduating from Loyola in 1999, Feagin worked as a news producer in New Orleans and in Houston. During her career, she won the 2010 Lone Star Emmy Award for a special feature program.

John Donnelly, Fox 26 reporter, said he was horrified by the news of his colleague’s death.

“I received a text at 3 a.m. the morning of her murder. It was horrifying,” Donnelly said.

Donnelly said Feagin’s personality was always positive.

“She was a lot of fun, upbeat and had a quick sense of humor,” he said.

According to Kristi Tafalla, a former friend of Greer, “She could brighten your day just by walking in the room, as she always had some hysterical story to tell about what happened to her that day.”

Several of the sisters of the Zeta Psi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority decided to raise money for a scholarship in Feagin’s name.

“Alpha Chi Omega Sorority Incorporated plans to use fundraised money for a scholarship to be given out over several years to Loyola students,” Tafalla, said. “We are currently working on how that will work out but plan to give the first scholarship in the spring of 2014,” Tafalla said.

Feagin will be remembered in the hearts of her sisters and friends.

“RIP beautiful girl! Your death has us all shocked and saddened. Your smile and contagious craziness will always be remembered, ” Shan Spear Harris, Feagin’s friend, said.

“My roommate, my pledge sister, and my friend… you are missed,” Courtney Merritt, Feagin’s friend, said.
