The holiday season proved to be a harsh, cold winter break for Loyola’s women’s basketball team.
The women dropped both of their road contests over the break, and went 0-2 at home.
On Tuesday, the ‘Pack took on Millsaps College in the Den.
Despite having four players in double figures, the Majors went on to victory, 69-61. The loss drops the women to 0-9 on the season.
Loyola led early in the second half 46-40, but Millsaps went on a 24-7 run during the next 10 minutes to put the game away.
Communications sophomore Stacia Jackson led the team with 13 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
Melissa St. Mary, management senior, and biology freshman Joelle Bordelon scored 12 and 10 points respectively.
According to Head Coach Do Bee Plaisance, the team could not take advantage of scoring opportunities.
“Millsaps was a very disciplined shooting team, and we just could not score when we had the chance,” she said.
Before the holiday season was in full swing, the Wolfpack traveled to the Lakefront to Sun Belt Conference member University of New Orleans on Nov. 23.
A 15-0 run in the first half helped the Privateers pull away for a 70-32 victory. UNO’s Monique Taylor missed a double-double by one rebound recording nine rebounds and 14 points.
Jackson led the ‘Pack with 13 points. St. Mary did not play in the game because of an eye injury.
The team hit the road after the cross-town loss to take on Mississippi College at A.E. Wood Coliseum.
The ‘Pack trailed by only five at the half but could not close the gap losing, 69-54.
St. Mary scored 17 points in the losing effort. Bordelon added 12 points.Georgia Southwestern rolled into New Orleans the day after Thanksgiving and showed no ill effects from the holiday feast.
The Wolfpack trailed by only seven points with a little more than 16 minutes left, but Southwestern went on a 27-8 run during the next eight minutes to put the game away.

St. Mary and political science junior Carlee White score 14 and 11 points respectively.
“We were just not capitalize on our chances,” Plaisance said. “We were not putting the ball in the basket.”
The ‘Pack’s season will continue on the white sands of Pensacola, Fla. on Dec. 17 at 5 p.m. against the University of West Florida.
