Professor Aaron Spevack will present a lecture entitled “Islam and the American Dream” as part of the Yamauchi Lecture series Tuesday, March 29 at 5 p.m. in the Audubon Room.
The lecture will discuss the ways in which Muslims interact with American society given the wide diversity of beliefs and traditions in Islamic culture.
Spevack is a member of the religious studies faculty at Loyola and specializes in the subjects of Islamic law, Islamic intellectual history and Sufism. He is also versed in Moroccan and Turkish Sufi musical traditions.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
