NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival released its day-by-day lineup Wednesday for this spring’s event.
Added to the schedule for Sunday, April 25, is Juan Luis Guerra y 440, a Dominican singer who has sold over 20 million records and won nine Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, and two Latin Billboard Music Awards, the festival said.
This year’s lineup also includes Simon & Garfunkel, Pearl Jam, Aretha Franklin, Van Morrison, The Neville Brothers, Lionel Richie, Allman Brothers Band, Teena Marie, B.B. King, Darius Rucker and dozens of others.
The festival’s annual fundraiser on Thursday, April 22, will honor Dr. John and celebrate his more than 50 years in music. The gala will also feature Jon Cleary as well as the Foundation’s Heritage School of Music.
Band of Horses will appear Saturday, May 1, instead of during the first weekend of the festival as listed earlier, organizers said. Gil Scott-Heron, previously announced as a performer for the festival, will not appear.
The festival also announced Wednesday that the deadline to purchase a discount weekend ticket package is Feb 19. The discount ticket packages include tickets to each day of a particular weekend.
Ticket packages purchased for all three days of the first weekend (April 23, 24 and 25) will be $120 ($40 per day), while second weekend packages purchased for all four festival days (April 29, 30, May 1, and 2) will be $160 ($40 per day).
Advance single day Jazz Fest tickets are $45; the gate price is $60.
