LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) — A federal grand jury accuses a former Opelousas alderman and Opelousas High School teacher with getting a minor to engage in sex acts to produce pornography.
Acting U.S. Attorney William J. Flanagan said Wednesday that Larry Caillier (KY-yay) II is charged with producing and possessing child pornography, and with using interstate commerce to try to coerce a minor to engage in criminal sexual acts.
The indictment handed up Tuesday says the alleged incident took place Feb. 8. It did not give any details about the minor, such as age, sex or home state.
Caillier, 32, has been held since his arrest Feb. 26. His initial appearance is scheduled March 16 before U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick J. Hanna.
Producing child porn carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. The coercion charge carries a mandatory minimum of 10 years with a maximum of life.
