Not every meal in the Orleans Room is determined by the day of the week, but few students find issue with the weekly repetition of fried catfish on Friday afternoons. “Catfish Fridays”, as they are endearingly known as on campus, play on the traditional, Catholic theme of abstaining from eating meat on Fridays. General studies sophomore Chris Sauer doesn’t mind the routine. “The catfish has the non-college cafeteria taste, which I appreciate,” he said. “Catfish is probably the best choice Sodexo has ever made.” Beating out red beans and rice on Mondays (another New Orleans tradition) and the O.R. pizza bar, catfish is an easy favorite for Loyola diners as the winner of “Favorite Orleans Room Meal.”
