What to bring on the parade route

Mardi Gras is a marathon. Don’t get caught unprepared.

    1. BAG

Backpacks and fanny packs do the trick to carry the following items listed below.

    2. PHONE CHARGER

Carnival season and all its magic has a way of taking those participating on adventures they never imagined. The last thing you want to worry about while having a great time is the impending death of your cell phone. For safety and peace of mind, make sure you have your phone charger. This will ensure that no matter what the circumstances, you will have a way to contact friends to meet up or help free you from the drunken troubles experienced by many.

    3. TOILET PAPER

Finding a place to satisfy nature’s call can take a great deal of skill if you don’t want to spend any money for it. Hundreds of people drinking excessively are flooding the streets at this time. Even if you secure a place to relieve yourself, chances are there will be no toilet paper. Taking a small roll with you in your bag is much advised. If sanitation is something you value, I also advise the use of hand sanitizer. We’ll call that #3.5

    4. SNACKS

Between all the walking and general debauchery of the carnival season, hunger can hit hard and fast. Avoid paying carnival-gouged food prices and bring your own. Your tummy and your wallet will thank you.

    5. CASH

Bring cash for food and drinks. It’s also a good idea to bring about $20 in emergency cab fare. Carry it somewhere safe- don’t stash it in a compartment of your bag that would be easy to access by a pickpocket.

    6. OPTIONAL

Bringing your own alcohol and a bottle of water will keep you hydrated and out of long bar lines, and not to mention, it will save you cash. Remember to use plastic bottles and stay away from glass, as it is illegal to walk around with glass bottles on the street.
