BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Kenny Chesney and Taylor Swift will headline a country music festival in LSU’s 90,000-seat football stadium next year, organized by promoters of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
The Bayou Country Superfest is set for May 29-30 and also features Keith Urban, Brooks and Dunn, Kellie Pickler and other performers, promoter Quint Davis said at a news conference Wednesday.
Davis, Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu and other boosters said they envisioned the festival as an annual event that will draw music fans from around the country, injecting tourist dollars into Baton Rouge’s normally sleepy Memorial Day weekend.
“This will be an event unlike any other in America,” Davis said. “This is an event that America will pay attention to.”
LSU officials said the concerts would mark the first time in decades that the stadium has been used for a non-athletic event other than graduation ceremonies.
Other performers on the lineup are Jason Aldean, Jake Owen, David Nail, Gloriana and Justin Moore.
Tickets go on sale Nov. 5, starting at $40 for one-day stadium seats. Field-level seats start at $85 per day.
