Brief: Former Loyola provost dies

Former provost and social justice activist the Rev. George Lundy, S.J., Ph.D., died early in December at 64 years old. Lundy was with the Jesuits for 43 years and was a priest for 33 years.

Lundy is a Loyola graduate, and he held several prominent academic positions throughout his career at Loyola. He served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs from 1986 to 1992.

After leaving Loyola, Lundy served as vice president at University of Detroit, then as president of Wheeling Jesuit University from 2000 to 2003.
