The Maroon wants you to get to know your Loyola athletes every week. This week we bring you Lady Wolfpack volleyball defensive specialist, Keelyn Henderson.

Keelyn Henderson, international business and finance senior, has high hopes for the Loyola volleyball team this year. Coach Tommy Harold called her a “good player and hard worker who has a great attitude and motivates her teammates.” Though she is involved on campus as a member of Theta Phi Alpha and business fraternity Delta Sigma Pi, Henderson said, “Volleyball is the major time-consumer in my life.”

When did you start playing volleyball?

“I started in the sixth grade when my mom and aunts were playing in a recreational league.”

What are your plans for next year?

“I spent the last seven months in Europe, five of which were in Barcelona, so I’d really love to go back.”

What was your favorite part about Spain?

“The language. In fact, I didn’t speak English the first three months because I was so intent on learning Spanish.”

What is your number one goal for the volleyball team this year?

“I would love to win conference again. With this group of girls, I think that’s very possible.”
