To The Editors:
John told me his squat is 250 lbs. That’s not three times his bodyweight. I’m glad you all are happy with him, but it’s writing like that that shouldn’t be published. He speaks like an expert when he has a very limited grasp on the subject.
For your information, the only reason I even read the article was because it was shoved in my face by trainers, employees of the Loyola gym and students at the gym. They wanted me to send something because most people there have not found his advice helpful. I’ve corrected him and offered to give him advice, and if he doesn’t choose to take me up on my offer, the column will just get worse.
If it’s good enough for you, it truly shows that The Maroon does not strive for quality as a newspaper. You should want people writing about things they know a lot about and have researched and can provide references. If someone can’t do that for the subject you’ve given them, you should find someone else. Or give them a new topic. Thankfully most people aren’t going to The Maroon for all their workout advice. If that were the case, I’d have to unscramble a whole lot of minds instead of getting my work done in the gym.
Have a nice day. Good luck.
